ROK CUP SUPERFINAL
Ferguson fights through the field in Italy at the ROK Cup Superfinal
The first day of racing didn’t start off the way we wanted. The last three practice sessions the day before on Wednesday we were looking good for qualifying, putting up top 5 times each session. However, on Thursday we had a tough qualifying putting us back in 60th out of 102 drivers. This meant we had to start in 20th for every 8 lap heat race. In the first heat we had a pretty good run and were able to make up 9 positions finishing 11th, and in the second heat we finished 13th. The start of Fridays racing looked very promising for us; fast in practice, and if we could keep fighting through the field in the next two races we were looking to start in the back half of the A main on Saturday. We made our my way up to 11th and had caught up to a group of 3 karts with 3 laps to go, but then my chain came off putting us back in 30th with a lot of points we didn’t want. In the 4th and 5th heats we did as much as we could but had to defend most of the time and finished 15th and 16th. After the qualifying heats we were 47th overall and for the final started 12th in the B main. During the final we were running pretty good battling for 12th position but an incident towards the end of the race put us back to 32nd. Although it wasn’t quite the weekend we were hoping for It was an awesome experience and we learned so much, I can’t wait to take all of what I’ve learned to ROK the Rio in Vegas.
We wouldn’t be racing as much as we have without your support.
